I like the current idea Stephen uses for having a campaign log, quotes from the game and downloadable character sheets. In long-term games such as the current one it's very handy for me to have access to these documents to refresh my memory as to what's going on and what stage my character is at. How much work is spent on the site after the session and is this the first time you've (Stephen) done this? Has Andreas ever created one for a previous campaign? How about linking this blog to the site and allowing others to find it easily?

ReplyDeleteI spend a couple of hours a week updating character sheets (after people have levelled up), and maybe another hour a week doing the log and the quotes. Adding PC comments then takes a few minutes at a time, whenever people send them to me.
Actually prepping for the next game takes a lot of time in D&D, because the stats are some complex. This is even worse at the moment, since you're facing a lot of humanoids, who need classes and levels added to them. When using off-the-shelf monsters, this requirement is lessened.
I haven't done a campaign log before. I have intended to, but never got around to it. Frankly, it's only my current lack of employment that allows me to stay on top of all this stuff; if I should ever manage to get a job, the log may cease.
In hindsight, the way the log should have been done is using one of these blog thingies.
