Does anyone have good sources of character art that can be used in the current game? I was looking at using a Romain legionnaire but since Vibius now wears full plate I thought this didn't feel quite right. Can anyone help out?

ReplyDeleteHero Machine offers two versions of software that allows you to "draw" a character portrait, from a bank of pregenerated elements. The new version 2.0 is currently only a Beta, and you have to pay for it, but version 1.0 is available online and for free.

ReplyDeleteI tried Hero Machine, though I didn't think much of it. I eventually found a decent enough image from Roman-Empire.net though I don't know how suitable it will be since Vibius now wears Full Plate armour. I'll just assume the picture was from his days in the Legion. ;)

ReplyDeleteWell I think the whole point is that the roman legions didn't use full plate armour. The idea was to have light mobile units, not big hulking brutes clonking around in plate. You know, you don't need to have a picture of a guy wearing armour. But if you absolutely must have one, perhaps you should look at the ones you get in neverwinter nights, they are actually quite good. You can also find new ones at neverwinter vault, just look under portraits.
Also you might want to search google image with 'knight in armour', that gave me quite a few decent pictures.

ReplyDeleteVery true, which is why I thought we wouldn't have access to full plate armour in this setting. Fortunately we do and I've luckily "found" one. I was mostly searching for "roman empire" since I was wanting a picture to look more like the setting, though I've found an image on the Neverwinter Vault (good site that) that will be suitable. All I really need to do is buy spikes for the armour.
